Are We Paying a Heavy Price for Democracy ???

Today is the day which has forced all of us to rethink. Rethink about the democracy in which we are living. Rethink about the liberty we are enjoying. Today Maoists have killed...or I should say butchered 75 CRPF soldiers and still they are enjoying the support of some sympathizers in the country. I can say it is possible only in India. Had it been in China, only God knows what would have happened to them. Had it been in USA, they would have been given them in same manner or in harder manner. But we are living in a democracy where anybody can abuse the integrity of nation on the name of democracy.

I would like to ask to all so call Maoist sympathizer- Is this the way to raise the voice in a civil society? I seriously suspect the very motive behind these organizations. Government is giving offers to talk, vocational training, money, employment opportunity; but now Maoist doesn’t want this. Now the real quest is for power and money. Now they want to run their parallel government. Are the Maoist sympathizers not sensing this or their so called ideology has made them senseless? A kid can sense that the people who are bombing the schools and trying to close the factories has nothing to do with education and development. They are only using the innocent tribals for their selfish motives; but the irony is that for those Maoist sympathizers, these incidents do not make any sense!!!

Since we are in a democracy, anybody can ask question.....but why some people use this liberty to abuse the nation. They abuse the nation in Kashmir, they abused the nation at the time of 1962 war by proving the point for China only and now they are abusing the nation by supporting the Maoists. Sometimes I think whether we are paying the price for democracy. Time has come to show some stern reactions, not only toward Maosit but also towards so called sympathizers because those are the people who are giving ideological and political shelter to the killers. A political will is needed to flush out the maoist killers, and more than that a social will is needed to flush out these so called intellectuals who do not see any crime in killing their own soldiers. Beware!!!! We are fighting a civil war now……

Good issue raised but only one sided treatment of a very sensitive issue.
The USA or China strategies can not succeed in India which is "the land of diversities". One should not forget that USA is the oldest democracy so all the if and buts are resolved there on the other hand India is the largest democracy merely 60 years old, it is because of democracy that we have choices to lead our lives so democracy can not be blamed for the problems of India.
In Odisha 500 tribal villages were vacated so that "TATA" and "VEDANTA" can establish new mining sites, is it fair to snatch lands from the villagers who have nothing but their small piece of land. Stern actions would be taken but against whome? Can we allow Drone attack on our own citizens?
The need is to answere questions like, why in Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, West Bengal, AP, Some parts of UP which are the most mineral rich regions of India most of the poorest people of India reside? Answer is simple the system do not want them to prospour, because in that case they will not get the cheap lebourer to perform hazardeous tasks. These are the most naxal affected areas. I agree Government is giving vocational training, money, employment opportunity but even after this if naxalism prevails it signify that more efforts are needed.

Most importently at this point of time a wrong action by government may lead the nation to home war. So the need is to dishearten people to join the path of violence by providing them peacefull means of living and also to stop the supply of arms and ammunitions to maoists which is the result of loopholes in government systems only.

I do not support the killing of soldiers, killers must be punished with process stablished by the law also those who have sympathy with those killers and provide intelectual support to them should be punished but I'm against the military solution of this issue and also our democracy should not be blamed for this.

Hi TT. I would like to paste the e-mail content which I mailed to one of my friend regarding the discussion of Maoist issue:

"Definitely is has lot to do with development and I am not denying that. But the core issue of violence cannot be kept aside. The Naxal movement started with a cause of development only
but now it has taken a different shape. Most of them are enjoying the support of their political
Godfather like Mamta Banerjee, Shibu Soren and up to a certain extent Nitish Kumar. Leaders do not want to die out the agitation because it will rob their vote bank. On the other hand, the situation is getting fuel from Nepal and China. They are only talking about Operation Greenhunt, which started few months back after all failed offers of talk and peace. The life toll, which Naxal violence has take since start of 2009 is almost 2000 !!!! Astonishing figure because this is too high in compare to J&K situation.

They compare themselves with Bhagat Singh and Che Guevera; but on the ideological front, they are hollow. They exactly don't know what to talk about. On one hand they talk about development through their so called intellectuals sympathized (like Aparna Sen etc) on the other hand they are not stopping bombing over schools, Railway Tracks and other establishment which would create employment and development opportunity for the people. We can easily sense the reason.......if the people get development, who will go to these so called revolutionaries.......Now the ultimate game is for power, not development. They are robbing people, getting all the ammunition from Nepal and China, killing our own soldiers and talking like Bhagat Singh. Have they ever known to the ideology Bhagat Singh had ?????

I am not a fan of dictatorship. Democracy has given us all what other could vie for; but...there is a big pause now.......on the name of democracy, we cannot abuse Tricolor. In 1962 war, those were the people who supported China. Is India a land of nation abusers only, who enjoy all the freedom here and abuse the nation. If they support China or Pakistan, why they are not going there????? They can't, because they know that they are living the best life here and will enjoy political patron ship too, which is not possible in those countries.

Violence is not a solution of any problem, but you need to retaliate in harder terms. Can you sense the most dangerous effect of these attacks; they are making our own people to our enemy !!!!! All of them are Indians, but now many of the people have started hating them due to these cause!!! Can't you sense the Chinese hand in this ....Can't the people like Aparna Sen sense this???? I wonder !!!!!!"

Hope this clears up my view. Yesterday only, we had one more incident in Dantewara where civilians were killed. This incident only strengthens the point which I made almost 2 months back to one of my friend. One more thing, nobody is in favor of use of Air Force or Army against Maoist because they are Indian nationals; but they themselves are giving ample chance to government to justify any attack of this nature in future, by doing what they did in Dantewara yesterday.
